Because it takes up too much time that should be going to GW2.

BTW comparing things to WoW is generally not the best approach 'round these parts.

Yeah. You'll get shot.

Also, they're not analogous. With the exception of female Druid T3, I personally prefer most Guild Wars armor, actually. There's plenty of variation and style to choose from, especially adding color to and taking power out of the armor-mix.

There are at least 12 armor sets for each class(more for the earlier classes) and 5 distinct pieces to each set, that can all be combined. That the playerbase is uncreative is picking their armors(let alone in dying them) isn't sometime that can be fixed.

Cool PlayerA buys FoW armor and dyes it black. PlayerB sees PlayerA and likes his armor. PlayerB goes out and buys FoW armor and dyes it black. Repeat.....

And don't forget that now all the "cool" ones have a bandanna and chaos gloves.

We have plenty of armor choices and something to suit anyone's taste. But, as in real life, quite often the average person has no taste.

There are three types of armors:

1) Armor that looks good
2) Armor thats expensive
3) Armor thats fugly

The categories are not mutually exclusive. For example, male ranger obsidian is both expensive and looks good. On the other hand, other fows are expensive and look crap.

Basically, people buy an armor that looks good, or they buy an armor that expensive, but ugly.

Prestige is the most common, thats y every man and his dog is in obsidian armor, even if it looks ugly.
Then people buy the few good looking armors for that profession and stick with them.
Noone purposely wears ugly, non prestigious armors.

Thats y there are so few different armors. However if you do the math, there are probably a thousand options for each class, or more, just people dont want to experiment with them much.

ok one) dont compare things to WoW, you will get flamed at, two) there are a lot of armor styles in GW AND you can mix and match, BUT players tend to go for e-peen. Someone bought FoW, the most expensive armor in GW, another player sees this player parading his armor becuase it was EXPENSIVE, not because it looked good, that players gets FoW and it repeats. On the other hand there are a lot of people who mix and match things and most peopel are able to make a really good mix, and three)DO NOT COMPARE GW TO WOW, YOU WILL BE FLAMED. as to above yes he has started quite a few threads so far, im hoping hes not doing it for title, but because he has genuine questions.

j/k - There are plenty of armor options out there, and the nice thing is that once you get max armor it's all just as good for playing the game... the rest is just to make people that have no life feel better about themselves. :/

Well it's not like the same thing doesn't happen with particular armour combinations in WoW. I have played both games quite a bit and personally, armour is a preference. There's always going to be people who start trends and people who follow trends in every walk of life, be it fashion, business, cars, in-game armour, whatever.

Sure it may appear that alot of armours are similar, some are even reskins of parts of other kits. GW armour sets can be combined, like armour sets for other games. It takes a bit of imagination. Some have it, and they express their creativity. Some don't and they just copy what they like.

WOW FLAME WOW FLAME WOW FLAME, or something to that effect.

Actually, that's a little unfair. The sets don't often go well together. They dye differently, and often have clipping issues.

I'd like the dye differences fixe. IT would definitely help with armour creativity.

On top of that, not allowing elite mixed sets in the HOM is already making it less appealing to mix.

Doesn't change the amount of combinations available. That so many prefer to go the black dyed FoW with bandanna and chaos gloves route, already makes your points moot.

Though having dyes match across sets would be nice.

I have fow dyed red on my female ele, cause it's the only one that actually looks like armor and not a bikini/ho dress. (well, a couple aren't that bad but fow is almost armor) I don't have chaos gloves, cause I think the fow gloves look better, and I have a dread mask dyed red instead of a ninja mask. I've never seen anyone with that combo before.

Why not: Because the developers designed it this way.

And yes, I would LOVE to see WAY more different item stats, like WoW and Diablo have. I also would love to have a much broader and deeper character development like for example in WoW.

But to be realistic: I don't see any of this coming true in Guild Wars. Changes this big require the whole game to be redesigned in many aspects.

I hope Guild Wars 2 will bring these features.

Yea My armor is Hideous but effective. It is the Borials Station armor. I got to lvl 10 and then went to the eye with my survivor - YOU can NOT make it to Dronks and NOT die at lvl 10 as you spawn with baddies. I wanted max armor 80 and I got it CHEEP.

So i still have it. Ugly as it is. It still works
